April 2022 Goals Mid Month Update
I've decided, to protect my own privacy, that I will not include any personal information going forward. I'll continue to talk about my creative goals but only those that I feel are okay to be public facing.
I will write a separate blogpost about the grant I'm currently working on but this change is in response to a grant reviewer's comments. Basically, they thought they should be privy to my: exact diagnosis (es) and specific sexual and gender identity details. No one is entitled to private medical or identity information just because they *think* they should get it. Rather than opening up, I am locking this down.
When I used to be on social media, I talked openly about my life but after a lot of very traumatic real world experiences, mostly with abusive medical professionals, I stopped. I need to stay stopped.
Anyway, here is where I am at with my creative endeavors:
I continue to plunk away at my book editing and my state grant obligations but am struggling with health issues so the going is slow.
This has also affected my sewing. I am working on a somewhat complicated jacket and I am having a difficult time working through the steps. I usually finish a few things each month but I will be lucky to finish this.
On the other hand, I've made a lot of progress on the English Paper Pieced (a form of hand piecing) triangle quilt. I can do this mostly by muscle memory so it's a nice creative activity to fall back on.
I finished my I Am From poem and mounted it on a canvas I painted. I affixed a cut paper wolf to it and really like how it turned out.
I am nature journaling regularly. Mostly writing lately without any sketching just because that's what I can do.
